Is Job Sinless?

By Sami Zaatari

When we open the book of Job, we read in the first chapter:

Job 1
1 There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect(TAM) and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil

Note the text claims that Job was perfect. The word used here is TAM, which is the Hebrew word for perfect, let us look at the definitions of the word TAM:

Hebrew for 08535

Pronunciation Guide
tam {tawm}

TWOT Reference Root Word
TWOT - 2522c from 08552
Part of Speech
adj
Outline of Biblical Usage

1) perfect, complete

a) complete, perfect

1) one who lacks nothing in physical strength, beauty, etc

b) sound, wholesome

1) an ordinary, quiet sort of person

c) complete, morally innocent, having integrity

1) one who is morally and ethically pure

So as we see, Job is a morally complete, and ethically pure, perfect in morals etc. This means he is sinless and commits not sins etc, because if he committed the sins he would not be morally perfect, or ethically pure now would he?

So we must now ask ourselves is Job sinless? According to the text yes he is, but now there is another dilemma, according to Christians being sinless makes you God, so therefore using the Christians logic the prophet Job is God! In summarized form:

1- Being sinless makes you God

2- Job is sinless

3- Job is God
